Houston – July 16, 2020 - On July 16, 2020, the United States Government filed a Statement of Interest in the Crystallex Attachment Proceeding, supporting the position of the Republic that recognition of Juan Guaido as Interim President of Venezuela represented a material change in circumstances that could justify vacating the 2018 writ of attachment on PDV Holding’s shares. Indicating its strong support of the Guaido Government as a matter of U. S. foreign policy and national security, the U.S. also stated that even if the writ remained in place the Court should not authorize Crystallex to proceed toward a sale of PDV Holding shares, as this would imperil those foreign policy and national security interests.
